DADman
control with Euphonix EuCon integration:
All settings for AX24 is controlled via the
DADman application which can run on MAC OSX
and PC XP.
The PC XP version of DADman
features EuCon integration, enabling the Euphonix
System 5 Hybrid
and the 5MC controller to control the settings
of the AX24.
I it is possible to view the DADman control
surface at the LCD screen of the System 5 Hybrid
console
or the 5MC controller and to to edit the various
parameters. Via the EuCon integration control
of the mic pre
parameters like gain, delay, pad, low cut, phantom
power, phase inversion, and channel mute can
be
made from the channel strip of the console or
the controller.
The control interface for the
AX24 itself is RS422. A RS422 control signal
can be transferred at a
distance of more than 100 meter.
Digital Audio Denmark can provide
a variety of small USB to RS422 or Ethernet
to RS422 converter
boxes with between 1 and 8 RS422 outputs for
controlling one or multiply AX24’s.
Simply connect the RS422 converter box to your
DAW computer or connect the Ethernet to RS422
converter to Ethernet. Install the driver. Then
Connect AX24’s to the RS422 converter
via RS422 and
install the DADman/EuCon application at your
DAW or at a seperate computer connected to Ethernet.
If the AX24’s has to be
operated together with Pyramix it is recommended
to install the DADman control
program on a separate computer. For other DAW
applications DADman can be installed at the
same
computer as the DAW.

Digital
audio interfacing:
AX24 can interface to Euphonix System 5 via
AES/EBU or MADI.
With a MADI I/O card mounted
in the AX24’s multiply AX24’s can
be daisy chained into one MADI link.
One MADI link can be used for 64 channels @
48kHz, 32 channels @ 96kHz and 16 channels
@ 192kHz audio.
Coax based MADI can be transferred
at a distance of approx. 100 meter, and optical
based MADI
can be transferred at a distance of more than
1 km. For optical MADI connection between the
stage
and the control room two DAD
HD I/O interface boxes are needed since
the MADI card at the AX24
analog/digital front end is coax based MADI.
The DAD
HD I/O interface can also come in handy
if you want to use ProTools® as your DAW
since the DAD HD I/O interface features MADI
to ProTools HD conversion.
The internal clock circuit at
AX24 is more precise than most clock devices.
We therefore
recommend to use one of the AX24 as Word Clock
master for the whole synchronization.
It is possible to daisy chain
the Word Clock between multiply AX24’s
however if more than 3 units
AX24 has to be synchronized together we recommend
to use a Word Clock distribution amplifier for
Word Clock distribution.
