The Danish Broadcasting Corporation
chooses Digital Audio Denmark Converters for Classical
music recording
Press release,
December 2004.
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation
(DR) has installed ten ADDA 2408 and two Axion AD/DA
converters for classical recording in the DR Concert
hall of Copenhagen. The installation is made as both
a permanent set-up in the Studio 1, and as a portable
recoding set-up for on-location recording of Classical
Music out side the Concert hall.
ADDA 2408 has been chosen by DR because
of the High performance digital microphone pre-amplifier
and AD/DA converter, which were needed for the application,
and indeed because of the superior sound quality,
and transparent AD conversion, giving a very transparent
an un-coloured presentation of the classical music
instruments.
The converters are build in-to two
flight cases, each with 4 ADDA 2408 giving 32 AD/DA
I/O's for a total of 64 channels. The converters interfaces
to a Pyramix DAW from Merging Technologies installed
with 4 Mykerinos DSP cards and the new 5.0 software,
enabling the recording of up-to 56 tracks at 96 kHz
sampling, as well as 5.1 surround mastering in DSD
for Super Audio CD, and 96 kHz for DVD-A.
The Axion converters are used for
monitoring, and provide analog I/O for Mastering and
mixing in the Concert Hall studio 1, and studio 2.
Axion is compatible with the new DSD and DXD formats,
which are used when preparing the final mix for Super
Audio CD productions.
